Pentax DCF HS Binoculars series borrow many cues from the flagship DCF SP lineup, such as the similar focusing dial and eyecup design, but do so with a more approachable pricing. The bodies of the DCF HS series, available in either an 8x or 10x magnifications, are highly water resistant but are ultimately not waterproof. There are many fully waterproof units that are less expensive than these, but they cannot compete with the optical quality of the DCF HS with its fully multicoated elements and phase coated roof prisms.
Other noteworthy features include a long eye relief (16mm for the 8×36), helicoid type extendible eyepiece rings, a click-stop diopter adjuster, and rain-shielding eyepiece caps. Pentax Binoculars also accept an optional tripod adapter (TP-3) for quick tripod mounting and removal. Pentax will repair or replace this binocular to the original purchaser, but this warranty does not cover cosmetic damage, theft or loss. Replacement may be with comparable model at Pentax’s discretion if the original model is no longer available.
